We are thrilled to announce a strategic partnership with A&D Law, a local law firm based in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, led by Sereyvuthy Khan, an esteemed advisor, litigator, and arbitrator in the Kingdom of Cambodia. This partnership marks a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to expanding our cross-border legal services and strengthening regional legal support.
Recognising the enduring and expanding trade relations between Malaysia and Cambodia, as highlighted at the Cambodia-Malaysia Business Forum 2024 held in Kuala Lumpur in February, a collaborative effort jointly organised by the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce and the Malaysia Business Chamber of Cambodia (MBCC), our partnership represents our proactive response to the call for further collaborative initiatives aimed at strengthening economic, trade, and investment relations between Cambodia and Malaysia, with the goal of fostering a mutually beneficial environment for business growth and collaboration.
During the forum, it was noted that many Malaysian companies have significantly expanded their operations in Cambodia, experiencing remarkable growth rates over the past three decades. Additionally, the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with the Malaysia Business Chamber of Cambodia and the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia.
While the economically and legally diverse landscapes of Malaysia and Cambodia present unique challenges and opportunities, both nations share a commitment to fostering economic growth. This emphasises the need for legal cooperation and support to address and navigate these challenges effectively. Our strategic partnership equips us to provide practical cross-border legal support for Malaysian and Cambodian businesses and entrepreneurs by guiding them through local regulations, cultural nuances, and market dynamics, ensuring they receive comprehensive and relevant legal assistance. With combined expertise in local laws, practices, and business culture, along with our proficiency in English, Khmer, and Malay, we are well-prepared to effectively manage business negotiations, contract reviews, and dispute resolution across these countries.
In line with our objective of facilitating market entry, streamlining business operations, fostering growth, managing risks, and capitalising on opportunities for our clients, we merge our respective local knowledge with broader insights. This strategic approach enables us to address the specific needs and challenges encountered by businesses operating in both Malaysia and Cambodia, thus facilitating their success in the Southeast Asia region.
Introducing the Managing Partner of our strategic partner in Cambodia, Mr. Sereyvuthy Khan brings invaluable expertise to our collaborative efforts, with over 20 years of extensive experience across various legal disciplines, including corporate law, commercial transactions, international trade, mining, energy, and investment laws. His past roles as the Secretary General at the National Commercial Arbitration Centre of Cambodia (NCAC), appointments as a sole arbitrator and co-arbitrator, experience as counsel at the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), and court-appointed administrator and lawyer for multimillion-dollar bankruptcy actions, such as the one involving the Norwegian telecommunications company Eltek Valere and Mfone, a Cambodian mobile subsidiary of SET-listed satellite operator Thaicom (Mfone Case), demonstrate his proficiency in navigating complex legal issues.
Given his experience, Mr. Khan acts as a vital resource, enhancing our ability to deliver comprehensive legal solutions that are crucial for businesses and entrepreneurs operating across Malaysia and Cambodia. While Mr. Khan remains an independent ally, his collaboration with our firm is integral, not supplemental. Together, we operate as a cohesive unit, ensuring that our clients are serviced by a unified team with combined expertise. By engaging with us, clients can expect a seamless integration of services, reflecting our commitment to handling their legal matters with a comprehensive, collaborative approach.
We are confident that our collaboration will bring tangible benefits to clients and significantly contribute to the economic development of the region.
